Snow Geese

Snow geese take flight from a field near Conway Washington.

I found this particular flock (too many to count) after driving around the valley for about an hour or so. For those of you who enjoy shooting wildlife you already now that it can take hours of waiting, sometimes in miserable weather for the opportunity to make one or two decent photos. This was one of those times; dry but very cold, in the mid 20’s.

Armed with a 600mm lens, a tripod, layers of warm clothes, and a thermos filled with hot coffee, I sat along the side of the road waiting for the geese to make their way towards my location. Every few minutes a small group would get spooked and take flight, circle and landing.
